Woke up to a light snowfall, though it's expected to get warm enough for a while today it will all melt off. But by game time tonight, expect a rematch, with snow winning once again. It's a busy day in college sports, so read on.


• Washington State: The Cougars basketball team got to sit and watch as Gonzaga – Monday's season-opening opponent – began its season by hosting Eastern Washington. The Zags won in a tight game. ... In tonight's football game, we have our advance centered round the weather that's expected to hit town. We also had our keys to the game. ... The Seattle Times' Bud Withers adds a short preview. ... Freelancer Howie Stalwick has a preview based on Paul Wulff's future. ... Don't forget, Steve Gleason is in town and will be the honorary captain tonight. I'm wondering what's the over/under on how long the standing ovation he'll receive will last. Three minutes? ... CougCenter has an advance. ... And that's about it from WSU.


• Around the Pac-12:'s Ted Miller has his usual mailbag. ... Washington: Coaches Steve Sarkisian and Lane Kiffin renew their friendly rivalry, with Sarkisian's Huskies riding a two-game win streak in the series. ... Oregon State: The Beavers game at California is sort of lost in all the flotsam from the big game across the bay. ... Oregon: The grass is long, the field is expected to be a bit wet and the Ducks face quite possibly their toughest game of the year. And they lost to No. 1 LSU earlier. ... California: The Bears have a lot on the line today in their final AT&T Park home game. ... Stanford: The Cardinal's defense has to play well today, while the offense tries to emulate the 49er teams of old. ... Colorado: One last chance for the CU seniors to win a Pac-12 game in front of their fans. ... Utah: The Utes have played well recently, but their opponent, like them, is really motivated. ... USC: Nickell Robey is playing for his mom, who is no longer with him. ... UCLA: Kevin Prince is the Bruins' comeback story of the season. ... Arizona State: Love the first picture on the Sun Devils' game preview. It's of ASU fans in T-shirts. People will be wearing T-shirts in Pullman tonight, under about six other layers. ... The Devils need to win to stay in the Pac-12 South race. ... Arizona: There have been a few games that have meant less to UA, but not many.


• College basketball: Lot's of Pac-12 teams played their first real games last night including ... Loyola Marymount upsets No. 17 UCLA, 69-58. ... USC won handily over Cal State Northridge, 66-59. ... Stanford routs Central Arkansas 91-52. ... California rides an early wave and gets by always-tough UC Irvine, 77-56. ... Colorado takes Fort Lewis, 85-57. ... Oregon turned over its chance at an upset, losing 78-64 at No. 7 Vanderbilt. ... ASU barely got by Montana State, 78-72.
