WSU fighting a virus as week starts

COUGARS

It's late but we promised you a post, so read on.

••••••••••

• Washington State didn't hit the field tonight until about 7:30 and went for about 70 minutes. And there were quite a few players missing. Remember the virus that hit Jeff Tuel on Saturday? Well it's going through the team, with, well, I'll just list the players who missed tonight: David Gilbertson, Connor Halliday, C.J. Mizell, Cody Clements, Tyree Toomer, Tracy Clark, Matt Goetz, Rico Forbes and Isiah Myers all missed practice tonight with the virus. If you are scoring at home, that means three quarterbacks missing with a virus and one more, Jeff Tuel, with his left arm in a sling. Marshall Lobbestael, who will be Saturday's starter, got plenty of work with the ones. The players are expected to be back tomorrow. ... Other than the players missing Monday, it was a typical first practice of the week, with players in helmets, jerseys and shorts, and the on-field work limited to drills, special teams and game planning.

• As I said to start, it's awful late so that's all for tonight. We'll be back in the morning. Until then ...
