WSU loses Eric Morris to Texas Tech
COUGARS
FROM PULLMAN -- As multiple reports indicated this week, Washington State inside receivers coach Eric Morris has left the school for a position on the staff of new coach Kliff Kingsbury at Texas Tech.
Morris played receiver for Mike Leach at Texas Tech from 2005-2008. It's not known what his exact role will be on Kingsbury's staff, though it's likely Kingsbury, a former Texas Tech quarterback, will call his own plays. Kingsbury played for Leach during the coach's first two seasons at TTU.
Morris has experienced a quick rise in the college coaching ranks. He was a graduate assistant at Houston last season before Leach hired him to coach receivers in his first season at WSU. Morris was entrusted with sitting in the coaches' booth on game day, a position to which Leach has assigned great importance over the years.
At age 33, Kingsbury is the youngest head coach of a BCS school. Morris, 27, adds even more youth to a staff that Kingsbury promised would be "young and energetic."
Jeff Choate, WSU's linebackers coach, is also reportedly headed to UTEP as that school's defensive coordinator. WSU has not confirmed either move.
