Slowing into Tuesday

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN -- It's that time of year when things really, really, really slow down on the Pac-12 basketball front. That's especially true for WSU, which doesn't play again until Friday. Ken Bone meets with reporters today to discuss that game. We also have links for you. Read on.

...

Not much WSU-related news out there. Not in football, and not in basketball. Although a note written by Adam Lewis on Cougfan reminds me that I forgot to pass along the news the other night that redshirt freshman guard Brett Kingma, who was suspended indefinitely from the basketball team after an arrest for marijuana possession in October, has been reinstated after a two-month suspension. Bone said at Pac-12 media day that he wasn't sure if Kingma had a future at WSU. It appears now that he does. Kingma is redshirting this season so he can't play, anyway, but he is back at practice and his troubles are apparently behind him. ... If you want to know just how impressive it was that the WSU women's team held star Ohio State guard Tayler Hill to 3-for-17 shooting on Saturday, take a look at what she did against Gonzaga last night. ... This is my first morning post written in my new apartment. The move was unpleasant but not terrible. As for the drive to Seattle later this afternoon? I hope I can say the same.

In Pac-12 basketball news ... Arizona is right back to business after its big win over Florida. ... UCLA coach Ben Howland admits he should have had one of his seniors on the court longer than one year. ... A former Washington player is adjusting to life in the NBA. ... Colorado's bench players should get more action this week against Northern Arizona. ... Not necessarily Pac-12 related, but the Salt Lake Tribune has a feature on SMU coach Larry Bown. ... A potentially important contributor for California is trying to play through some pain in his right foot.

In Pac-12 football news ... Arizona's bowl win gives the Wildcats hope heading into the 2013 season. ... UCLA will have a hard time replacing a couple of its seniors. ... Oregon's young running back/receiver/kick returner says he's just getting started. ... Oregon State knows a win over Texas would be a big deal. ... Kent Baer is likely to return to the Pac-12 as part of Colorado's new coaching staff. ... Boise State, Washington's opponent in the Las Vegas Bowl, wins with small-town players.
