GU falls out of poll, Gaels 16/13

As expected, Gonzaga dropped out of the A.P. Top 25 when the newest poll was released earlier today. GU is 30th (fifth in receiving votes), 27th in ESPN/USA Today's Top 25. Gonzaga was No. 24 entering last week but lost to BYU on Thursday. Here's a link to both polls.

Saint Mary's climbed up a couple more spots and sits at No. 16 in A.P. and No. 13 in ESPN/USA Today. The Gaels and Bulldogs collide Thursday at the Kennel.

Checked Bracketology this morning to see what Thursday's loss did to Gonzaga's position. Joe Lunardi has Gonzaga as a seven seed (and dropping), facing No. 10 ... drumrollllllllllll .... Notre Dame in Columbus. Hmmm. Uhh, really? GU clobbered the Irish 73-53 in late November, but N.D. has been red-hot of late and is 26th in both polls. Ironically, GU's win over N.D. is now considered one of, if not its best, wins to this point of the season.

Lunardi also has Saint Mary's as a five and BYU as an 11.

Media day this afternoon. I'll post my notebook later tonight.
