UPDATE: Dawson staying at K-State?

COUGARS

FROM PULLMAN -- The AFCA conference has ended, though there still hasn't been any official announcement from WSU regarding Mike Leach's assistant coaching staff. But a name has been added to the school's faculty directory. Read on for details.

UPDATE: The Wichita Eagle is reporting that Kansas State has denied that Chris Dawson has left to take the strength and conditioning position at Washington State. And a KSU player tweeted that Dawson has informed him he will remain at the school. Dawson's name remains in the WSU directory. Go figure.

I've been told that Dawson had been mulling the decision and going back and forth on it for some time, and the same was reported by CougCenter.com's Brian Floyd, who was the first to report that Dawson was on the WSU radar. FootballScoop.com also reported the hire Thursday. It seems odd that WSU would register him with a university email address and place him in the directory if nothing had been set in stone. It seem highly unlikely that an addition to the directory would be made without some sort of paperwork being filed.

It remains unclear whether Leach has completed his staff. We'll let you know as soon as anything official comes from WSU.
