You know the drill. Click the tab below to see what we have today. Above is a picture, taken by Dan Pelle, of Shadle Park hoops standout Brett Boese, who is headed to Washington State University. He's one of the most impressive student-athletes (emphasis student, citizen, etc.) I've ever had the chance to get to know - and the league is chock full of them.
FEATURE: Click here to read about Boese.
COLUMN: Ok, let me give you the back story on why I suggest in the column that the Greater Spokane League should divide the league into two divisions, 4A and 3A. I was going to write about the implosion of the Columbia Basin Big Nine. So the timing of my column is interesting. But it's something I've wanted to write about since I took over this beat. I've chatted with numerous coaches and not a one was against such a format. The principals make the final decision in the GSL. Their stance that they want one league is a bit old school to me. And it's convenient. No travel, minimal class time lost. And no administrator has to make a road trip out of town for a nonleague game. Anyway, read it and give me your thoughts.
PREP NOTEBOOK: I never had the pleasue of covering former Lewis and Clark football coach John Hook back in the day. But co-workers past and present do nothing but rave about him - mostly for his qualities as a human and not as a coach. And he was a good coach. Hook will be inducted into the Washington State Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Saturday.
WRESTLING: Mike Vlahovich was on scene to report about the Mead/Central Valley showdown, which wasn't much of a showdown as it turned out.
ROUNDUP: In Wednesday action, West Valley's boys downed Lakeland and Lakeland's girls stopped WV.
Here's a link to a story in the Tri-City Herald today about the breakup of the Columbia Basin Big Nine.
