Zags ready to get Krazy

It's a sure sign of the approaching basketball season.

Gonzaga's annual "Kraziness in the Kennel" is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 20, at the MAC. It's the first opportunity for the public to see the 2012-13 Zags and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Doors open at 3 p.m. with events, including a scrimmage, beginning at 4.

Fans will get their first glimpse of the 2012-13 Gonzaga University men’s basketball team Saturday, Oct. 20, at “Kraziness in the Kennel” in the McCarthey Athletic Center.

 There’s something for everyone.

The festivities inside the McCarthey Athletic Center will start at 4 p.m. with the doors opening at 3 p.m. The event is free to the public with seating available on a first-come, first serve basis. The event is also being held concurrently with Fall Family Weekend on the Gonzaga campus.

But the lawn on the south side of the McCarthey Athletic Center will be abuzz with activities from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. Activities planned for families and children on the lawn include:

*Inflatable Monster Basketball Game

*Inflatable Bounce House

*Inflatable Soccer Goal

*Free Rollabana’s from Numerica

*Free Schedule Posters and Schedule Cards

*Music Provided By 1510 KGA Radio with Remotes by The Lockerroom Host Toby Howell

“We will have a lot of families visiting campus that day and we want to make this a family-friendly event,” said Mark Livingston, general manager of Gonzaga IMG Sports Marketing. “Kraziness in the Kennel adds another dimension to the host of activities going on around campus in conjunction with Fall Family Weekend.”

One lucky fan will be selected to have a chance to win $10,000 with a half-court shot at Kraziness in the Kennel.

The Bulldogs will conduct a scrimmage and there will be performances by the GU Dance Team, Cheerleaders and the Bomb Squad, as well as an appearance from Spike the mascot.

The Gonzaga radio network will also air a 90-minute season preview show from 3:30-5 p.m. live on 1510 KGA in Spokane from the McCarthey Athletic Center with 10th-year voice of the Bulldogs Tom Hudson and third-year analyst Matt Santangelo courtside.
