Lee-Knight stars as Ams beat Chiefs in OT

Former Spokane Chiefs goaltender Luke Lee-Knight, now playing for the Tri-City Americans, made 39 saves Saturday night to disappoint a sold-out Arena crowd in a 4-3 Tri-City overtime win in Western Hockey League play. Read story

Nachbaur was pleased with the Chiefs' energy in the first period, but he said Spokane must change its offensive strategy.

"I thought we played hard and had enough chances to build a big lead," Nachbaur said. "But we took too long. We had no quick releases. We're overhanding pucks and allowing the goalie to set up, and that's what happens when you struggle."

Now Spokane, with three consecutive losses, must turn things around against the league's premier team, the Portland Winterhawks. The teams will meet Monday in Portland, and Wednesday and Friday in Spokane.

"We gotta take it one game at a time," Nachbaur said. "Nobody's gonna get us out of this. It's the guys inside the locker room right now who have to dig deep in the well to find it, to be more competitive to score and be more competitive to keep (opponents) out of the net."
