Day after the end of the season

COUGARS

FROM LAS VEGAS -- Washington State's season is over after it lost a 64-62 heartbreaker to Washington last night. It was a late one, so we don't have quite as much as usual to pass along. But we do have quite a bit. Read on.

...

Here's our game story, which, admittedly, isn't all that great due to the tight timespan in which it had to be written. But that's how it goes with these tournaments. We also had a tale of the tape post last night with a few more quotes than usual to compensate for the fact that we don't have a quotes post. ... Here's the game story from the Seattle Times, the News Tribune and a story I chipped in for Sportspress Northwest.

Around the Pac-12 ...

Arizona State 89, Stanford 88 -- Jahii Carson scored 34 points to help the Sun Devils into the quarterfinals. The Cardinal were a long shot to begin with.

Colorado 74, Oregon State 68 -- Order was restored for the Buffaloes, who lost their regular season finale to the Beavers in Boulder last week. It was an emotional exit for a Beavers senior.

Utah 69, USC 66 -- The Utes outlasted the undermanned Trojans, overcoming some trash talk in the process. The Trojans fought back from a 13-point deficit but couldn't quite pull it off.

Today ...

No. 1 UCLA vs. No. 9 ASU, noon (Pac-12 Networks) -- The Bruins' star freshman is making his homecoming today.

No. 4 Arizona vs. No. 5 Colorado, 2:30 p.m. (Pac-12 Networks) -- Arizona sees a bit of itself in the Buffaloes, who are primed for a rubber match against the Wildcats.

No. 2 California vs. No. 10 Utah, 6 p.m., (Pac-12 Networks) -- The Bears are ready to go after their first-round bye.

No. 3 Oregon vs. No. 6 Washington, 8:30 p.m. (ESPNU/WatchESPN) -- The Ducks say it's a business trip this week.

All for now. We're headed to the Idaho men's game against New Mexico State at noon, and will be at the UW-Oregon game tonight.
