Morning links: Gray clouds at WSU practice give way to glowering heat

Washington State's Tuesday practice ended with a rain shower. Today, the Cougars will probably miss the precipitation as they practice in 106-degree heat.

Yesterday's practice saw the WSU offense turn to running back Gerard Wicks and its rushing attack. You can read about that in our practice report. We also present this story in the paper about WSU's nickel position, and why some Cougars are practicing at both defensive back and linebacker.

We also have a number of videos to pass along. Here are interviews with Mike Leach, Darius Lemora, Parker Henry and Colton Teglovic.

The WSU broadcast team has another podcast to pass along and the school website has a practice report. The folks at CougCenter have an extensive WSU preview.

-- Vernon Adams will be doing a lot of studying today.

-- Jake Browning could start at quarterback for Washington and he's only a freshman.

-- USC plans to use Adoree' Jackson all over the field. But are the Trojans making the best use of his talents?
