Arena team will be called Spokane Empire

Spokane's indoor football team sorted through more than 400 name suggestions and settled on "Empire", a tribute to the area's railroad industry that helped spur growth and economic development in the late 1880s to early 1900s as well as a nod to the Inland Empire, a commonly used phrase to describe the region.

The franchise announced the name, team colors and several logo designs on Wednesday. Here's my article.
