A GRIP ON SPORTS • Ever see a really bad movie and be happy about it? You know, something that is so bad it’s actually kind of good? There was another such movie in the pipeline not too long ago, but the plug has been pulled. Read on.

•••

• Why would we mention it here? That’s simple. It was the Marshawn Lynch biopic. A movie about Lynch’s life, made by a family friend. What could be worse? Or better? A trailer dropped a while back and it was, well, odd. Turns out that’s all of the movie anyone is ever going to see. Lynch and his agent have decided to pull the plug – there was a dispute about the trailer’s release – and throw the movie into a dumpster. And light it on fire. And then roll it off a cliff. Which means scenes from the film should be hitting the Internet any day now. I happened to find a purloined copy of the script the other day – it was in a trash can behind the Oakland 7-Eleven – and I can share a few particulars. There’s a scene in which Marshawn holds a press conference with Super Bowl media and answers each question, no matter how stupid, with thoughtfulness and understanding. And there is the one with Marshawn saving 27 children by running down an out-of-control school bus, jumping abroad and pulling it to a stop – all the while administrating CPR to the stricken bus driver. The best one, though, is Marshawn taking a handoff from Russell Wilson, getting hit in the backfield and driving seven New England Patriots into the end zone as the horn sounds, giving the Hawks a second consecutive Super Bowl win. Yep, this biopic would have been the best ever. Too bad it will never see the light of day.

• WSU: The Cougars announced their 2015-16 basketball schedule yesterday and there is a boatload of home non-conference games. By the way, Eastern's schedule is also included on the link. ... Former WSU pitcher Adam Conley will start the Triple-A All-Star game.

• Indians: A late run helped the Indians win 3-2 last night at Avista and seal a series win over Boise. Chris Derrick has more in this game story and blog post.

• Golf: The Lilac Invitational kicks off its annual run tomorrow at the Fairways. Jim Meehan has an advance.

• Mariners: So Robinson Cano is swinging the bat better. We documented that yesterday. He documented it last night, hitting a home run that gave the M’s a one-run lead and, after Fernando Rodney took care of that edge, driving home the winning run in the 11th with a rope to the wall. The M’s 7-6 victory came despite Taijuan Walker not being as sharp as he has been. ... Mike Montgomery has a friend in David Price. ... Mark Trumbo is trying to get out his slump. ... Hisashi Iwakuma is struggling with just about everyone of his pitches. ... M’s fans love their hydro races.

• Sounders: Injuries have played a huge part in this season, whether giving someone new a chance to take over a key role or costing the Sounders a win or two. Now the team may have to deal with having a new goalkeeper, which just happens to be a really key position. ... Hey, an MLS power ranking. ... Clint Dempsey scored twice and the U.S. won its Gold Cup opener 2-1 over Honduras.

• Guess what? The NBA sures like to use Seattle as a stick to hit its current cities over the head with. It’s happening again. Until later ..
