I visited with Przemek Karnowski this afternoon, our first extended chat in nearly two months. He's not only a go-to player on the court; the affable big man was a go-to guy for media in the locker room.

The 7-foot-1 center's senior season has not gone as planned. He played in just five games before being sidelined by a painful back injury that eventually required surgery on Dec. 31.

He's on the mend but it's going to take a while. So will his decision on whether he stays at Gonzaga next season or pursues professional opportunities in the NBA or Europe. There are no guarantees but he's probably looking at 7-9 months from his surgery date before he's back competing on the basketball floor.

Here's my update on Karnowski that will run in Wednesday's S-R.
