Mead avenged a loss to Mt. Spokane a year ago, sweeping the Wildcats in a Greater Spokane League match at Mt. Spokane. Here's our story. Pictured above getting a kill is Mead outside hitter Hannah Zalopany.
When push came to shove, the Lewis and Clark Tigers did most of it, topping the Gonzaga Prep Bullpups 31-21 in the opener at Joe Albi Stadium, while North Central evened its record at 2-2 with a 17-10 win over the Shadle Park Highlanders.

There's a new No. 1 in the Tacoma News Tribune's 4A state football rankings - Ferris. And the Saxons vaulted to No. 1 in the Seattle Times' rankings.
It's doubtful the Coeur d'Alene football team could have played better Saturday in its 55-6 win over Whitney of Rocklin, Calif. And Lake City lost in a thriller to Rio Linda (Calif.). Click here to read the story.
