Nodland Cellars plans to open its downtown tasting room Friday.

To start, the new venue will be open noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, noon to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The plan is to hold wine tastings, sell appetizers that pair well with wine and feature live jazz performances.

Owner and winemaker Tim Nodland, a former rock-and-roll guitarist who also practices law, started making wine in his garage in 1999. This year marks his 18th vintage.

His new tasting room is located on the first floor of the Chronicle Building, 926 W. Sprague Ave., suite 101. The building is part of Cowles Co., which publishes The Spokesman-Review.

Call (509) 927-7770. On the Web: www.nodlandcellars.com. On Facebook: www.facebook.com/nodland.cellars.
