Year of Plenty

Whitworth Students to Perform “Omnivore’s Dilemma” Inspired Play

I reported earlier about a community based Whitworth theatre class that has been developing a play on food and food systems. In preparation they read Omnivore's Dilemma, met with local farmers' and I went in to share about our experience of eating locally for a year.

Brooke Kiener, the professor leading the class sent me the following note about the performance of the play;

I just wanted to let you know that we will perform our play about food, What’s in a Meal?, this Saturday at the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture in Spokane.  We will be in the Campbell House, which is just to the west of the main museum building.  The performance is about 30 minutes long, and we will perform it 3 times: at noon, at 2pm, and at 4pm.  We are not selling tickets for the show, and we can only admit 20 people for each performance, so it’s first come first serve!

We are very pleased with what we have put together and are excited to share it with the community.

So head on down to the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture to check it out, Saturday, May 8 at noon, 2pm or 4pm. I'm going to try and hit the noon performance.

Year of Plenty

The Year of Plenty blog was created by Craig Goodwin in the winter of 2008 to chronicle the experiences of his family as they sought to consume everything local, used, homegrown or homemade. That journey was a wonderful introduction to people and movements in the Spokane area who are seeking the welfare of the community through local foods, farmers markets, community gardens, sustainable transportation, and more fulfilling and just patterns of consumption. In 2009 and beyond the blog will continue to report on these relationships and practices, all through the eyes of a family with young children. Craig manages the Millwood Farmers' Market, is a Master Food Preserver and Pastor at Millwood Presbyterian Church. Craig can be reached at goody2230@gmail.com
