Ysursa backs McGrane for Idaho secretary of state
BOISE – Retiring Idaho Secretary of State Ben Ysursa threw his support behind Phil McGrane Tuesday in the four-way GOP race for the office. Ysursa pointed to McGrane’s years of election experience as chief deputy Ada County clerk, and his legal background as an attorney.
Retiring Idaho lawmaker Henderson backs Avista’s Gfeller for post
BOISE – Retiring Rep. Frank Henderson of Post Falls has endorsed Avista Corp. official Greg Gfeller to succeed him in office, as Gfeller heads into a hotly contested three-way GOP primary race for the seat. No Democrat is running, so the Republican primary on May 20 will determine the winner.
Candidates enter Idaho’s May 20 primary
BOISE – Idaho is in for a busy election season this year, with positions from governor down to North Idaho legislative seats drawing multiple candidates before Friday’s deadline. The state’s primary election is May 20, and voters will have plenty of choices. At the top of the ticket, every officeholder except state Treasurer Ron Crane has drawn a GOP primary challenger. So have all but one of the North Idaho incumbent lawmakers in Districts 1 through 4 who are seeking re-election. Second-term Sen. Steve Vick, R-Dalton Gardens, is unopposed.
Evan Frasure gets 2,500 foreign ‘likes’ on Facebook secretary of state campaign page
BOISE – Idaho secretary of state candidate Evan Frasure said he was “flabbergasted” late Monday when he learned that roughly 2,500 of the 2,859 “likes” on his campaign Facebook fan page were people from Istanbul, Turkey. Pocatello City Councilman Steve Brown, a consultant for Frasure’s campaign, said he didn’t intend to buy overseas “likes” for the fan page.
