Jamie Paden

Fairfield, WA

Education: Graduated from Heard County High School in Franklin, Georgia, in 1988. She later attended classes at West Georgia Technical College.

Work experience: She has worked as a steel purchasing manager for Georgia-based Conklin Metal Industries for more than 11 years. Formerly worked for Chromalloy.

Political experience: Appointed to her current council position a year ago.

Family: Married. Has one daughter.

Mark Matherly

Fairfield, WA

Education: Graduated from Chewelah High School in 1994.

Work experience: He previously worked as a septic system installer, card dealer and mechanic. He has worked for Du-More Recycling in Spokane for the last 13 years.

Political experience: Never held elected office.

Family: Married. Has four children and three grandchildren.

New Fairfield Town Council member faces challenger

Fairfield Town Councilwoman Jamie Paden is facing a challenge from Mark Matherly as she seeks to keep the position she was appointed to last year after it was vacated by a council member who moved. Paden said she started attending City Council meetings soon after she moved to Fairfield three years ago because she wanted to be involved in her new community.
