Langlauf: Nordic tradition at Mount Spokane

For more than 30 years, the annual Spokane Langlauf cross-country citizens race has attacted high-caliber skiers -- some of whom have advanced to the U.S. Olympic Team -- to join with hundreds of more casual skiers of all ages and abilities in a 10-kilometer celebration of classic nordic fitness and fun. The 2011 Langlauf is set for Feb. 13 at Mount Spokane's nordic trails. Pre-register at www.spokanelanglauf.org/

Brad Bauer of Seattle and Deb Bauer of Spokane hoist the hardware they won Sunday as top male and female racers in the annual Langlauf 10-kilometer cross-country ski race at Mount Spokane. Although hundreds of miles from the Vancouver Winter Olympics, the field of 197 Langlauf finishers enjoyed almost identical conditions: a light rain before the race changed to snow as the racers finished.
