Mt. Spokane High School's culinary team is the ProStart Invitational culinary champion. It is the first team in Eastern Washington to win first place in the culinary category. The annual ProStart event brings student chefs and restaurant management students to compete for scholarships and the right to advance to the nationals in May. In the culinary competition, students have 60 minutes to create a three-course meal using butane burners and no electricity or running water. Management students present their own menus, restaurant concepts and business plans. The North Central High School culinary team finished in second place, and in the restaurant management competition, Rogers took second place.
