This is a photo my grandfather took. He had a farm outside Waverly. On the back of the photo all it says is Oregon coast 1938. In 2016 I made the effort to find this spot. It’s Otter Point and has a vista built by the WPA in 1934. It’s still there. I took a photo which I’d also like to share.

'Splish Splash"- On a warm spring day (6/11), this Trumpeter Swan at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge was takin' a bath in the cool water. After doing barrel rolls at the surface of the water, it popped up and repeatedly slapped its wings on the water for lots of splashes! Not only was it getting a good bath but it was having fun doing it!

Deadly Hunter
Watching this dragonfly at Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge on Saturday, June 1st, I was reminded that they catch more than 95% of the prey they target. Its enormous eyes give it an almost spherical view as it waits for prey to fly overhead. I am glad that it eats mosquitoes as well as other small insects such as flies, bees, ants and wasps.
