Your Outdoors Photos: April 2020

The Inland Northwest is full of flora, fauna, waters, scenery and active people out to savor it all. Please visit this gallery regularly to share photos of your wild experiences, learning moments, hot discoveries, favorite trips. Help us build a visual tour of what's so great about the outdoors in this region through all four seasons. This photo gallery will be an inspiration to some people. To others it will be a reminder of why we love to live here -- and get outside as much as possible.

  • Doing some backyard photographing as of late many of the spring birds have been showing up. This morning two Cassin's finches came they have a very bright Red crown more pinkish breast and some on back can be mistaken for the common house finch a real treat to have them come. Taken April 29 2020 in Cheney.

  • After fresh water had been poured into their bath, the white-crowned sparrows bathed most of the afternoon, taking turns splashing and playing in the water. Four Lakes, taken April 28, 2020.

  • I saw the most amazing sight the other evening. I had come inside and went upstairs to read when I heard a lot of squawking, we feed a lot of birds, but I could tell it was quail. They were running around and chasing what I thought was a white chicken by it's size, but we have no chickens in our neighborhood ( of course I didn't have my glasses on!) I ran for the camera and was able to get this photo through my upstairs window, so it isn't the best quality, but you can clearly see it's a white quail! I have never seen one and it hasn't shown up since. We live on the upper south hill close to the Palouse Highway and Regal. It was taken April 21, 2020

  • An Osprey has claimed a nesting platform on the Columbia Plateau Trail where it passes through Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge. When a Bald Eagle flew close by, she launched herself off the nest and I took this photo on her return. Her mate was perched on a nearby telephone pole eating a fish!"
