  • The White Pelican trio gets chased off their napping area by a grumpy goose. Without the grandiose lift of these huge wings one wouldn't realize the White Pelican also has black feathers usually tucked away. Unlike the coastal Brown Pelicans, the Whites don't dive for fish. Instead they huddle up and simultaneously dip their bills into the water stirring up fish. Teamwork! Eventually, the trio and the goose worked it out, napping the afternoon together away in peace. The trio was here and gone in four days. Early morning near Hauser Lake.

  • Word gets out fast in the neighborhood when the White Pelicans make their grand appearance. This trio bestowed their beauty upon the ponds near Hauser Lake for four days last week. The big bulb-like protrusion on their bills is a fibrous plate that falls off after their eggs have hatched. One of the many interesting things about this show stopper.

  • Osprey Rebuilding The Osprey are back! The existing nest of the past five years is looking exceptionally tattered. The neighborhood strongly hopes the couple can rebuild. From the looks of the activity this morning, the nest rebuild is clearly in action. Whew! We all thoroughly enjoy the sounds and entertainment of the Osprey family. Pulled up the shutter speed as this bird was going back and forth quickly this early morning around Hauser Lake.

  • Osprey Board Meeting. After separate vacations (maybe they have something there:) the Osprey couple have reunited for the season. Unfortunately, their massive nest from the past five years has all but given way to the elements. Here they teeter on what remains of the top. Will they rebuild? Our talons are crossed. Lovely spring morning around Hauser Lake.
