Good Morning Sunshine. Morning sunrise at 7:35 in the Greenbluff area. The old saying of red skies in the morning, sailor's take warning applied this Thursday. The red morning skies preceded a seasonal storm that would move through the Pacific Northwest later in the day.

This young Great Horned Owl has been hanging around and acting unusually for an owl, being out all day, hopping down to get mice as soon as they come out of the live trap. In taking photos of him I noticed one eye looks like it has been injured. Taken at the end of October.

My husband and I took a hike on the Iller Creek Loop trail for our anniversary (October 10th) and stumbled upon a 50-foot section along both sides of the trail where the trees and leaves were bustling with ladybugs. We'd never seen so many ladybugs in our lives! It was a surreal experience to see these shifting masses of orange on most surfaces and upon closing our eyes noticed the congregation had a collective noise, like the crackling sound rice cereal makes once milk is added. My husband said there was a very recognizable smell too, but my olfactory sense was COVID impaired. I believe we happened upon a ladybug orgy!
