Wicked Throwback Photo Contest!

***This contest is closed. Thank you to everyone who entered. Winners will be announced soon.*** Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One - born with emerald green skin - is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. These two would grow up to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. We want to see throwback photos of you and your friends. Enter a throwback picture for your chance to win two tickets to see Westcoast Entertainment’s Wicked, and a $50 gift certificate for MacKenzie River Pizza. One runner up will win two tickets to Wicked. All tickets are for Thursday, May 8, 2014. Entries must be received by March 14. You can purchase tickets to Wicked, May 7-25, at INB Performing Arts Center, at BestofBroadwaySpokane.com or by calling 800-325-SEAT.

NOTE: Before photos show up in the reader photo gallery, they must be approved by an editor. If yours does not show up immediately, fear not. The only likely delay is that an editor has not had a chance to approve new photo submissions yet. Thanks for participating!

  • When I was little I was a beautiful ballerina... This was my costume for my "FiFi the Little French Maid" dance routine from 1988 in Okoboji, Iowa. I think the tan tights, bright blue eye shadow, and frizzy hair make for a nice combination!

  • 1991 Missoula Children's Theatre production of the Wizard of Oz in Sunburst, MT. It was my brother's (the lion) Senior year of high school and I was Dorothy. He was and still is my best friend. At the end of the play, as Dorothy was saying goodbye to all her OZ friends, I got to tell my brother, "And, Lion, I'm going to miss you most of all." My brother lifted me up and swung me side to side...and I knew he was going to miss me, too.

  • This picture of my daughter is a frame from a home video taken three years ago. my daughter was 3 years old at time, around the last time Wicked came through Spokane. In the video, she's listening to the soundtrack and asked to describe what the play is about. She answers "A bad witch and a good witch", she's asked if the bad witch is really bad, to which she replies "no, she's just really misunderstood." She's loved Wicked since she was 3, and even then understood the underlying themes of the show!
