Your Outdoors Photos: August 2017

The Inland Northwest is full of flora, fauna, waters, scenery and active people out to savor it all. Please visit this gallery regularly to share photos of your wild experiences, learning moments, hot discoveries, favorite trips. Help us build a visual tour of what's so great about the outdoors in this region through all four seasons. This photo gallery will be an inspiration to some people. To others it will be a reminder of why we love to live here -- and get outside as much as possible.

August 21, 2017 Madras, OR. Totality showing solar prominences.

August 21, 2017 Madras, OR. Packed up my 91 year old dad and my younger daughter in a Minnie-Winnie RV and headed to Madras, OR. Our telescope was set up to allow people to view the solar eclipse safely. We watched the eclipse progress and the sunspots. Took still pictures with the Canon 40D piggy backed on the C11. The 40D was equipped with a Sigma 150-600mm lens operating at 600mm. When we approached totality, we replaced the eyepiece of the C11 with a Canon 6D to video totality in 4K.
