I wouldn't have seen this great horned owl if it hadn't hooted as I walked past it. The photo was taken on Jan. 25, 2015 on the South Hill off of Palouse Highway.

Soon the holiday lights will be gone and we will look forward to Coeur d'Alene being lit up with holiday spirit next winter. I shot this from the Cda City Beach on 01/16/2015 about 30 mins after sunset.

A Snowy Owl has taken up residence on the top of some old drilling equipment just outside of Creston, Washington. Just as some of our senior-aged "snow birds" in Spokane head to Arizona, these snow birds fly south from the Arctic. They have been spotted as far south as Lewiston, Idaho this year, but they are most commonly seen by local birders in the Davenport, WA area.

Palouse Falls - The "ice circle" below the falls are chunks refrigerator size, making sonic booms as they dropped over the fall, echoing off the amphitheater walls. I thought of Tyler Bradt, the kayaker, taking that same route, only 4000 lbs lighter.
