    Photographer: Steve Feider

  • Caught this mid-July in early evening. I had been trying since spring to capture the in-flight bluebird that lives below my upper deck. Lots of shots of it and it's mate sitting on branches, but this was just luck. It had been bringing food back to the nest. Every time I step onto the deck, he flies away in a protective arch. It's been five years since the bluebirds nested under my deck and I hope they keep returning. They join the yellow finches, hummingbirds, doves, robins and sparrows that captivate my yard.
