Rosina Machu has run herself a world away from her earliest memories, without distancing herself at all.

Rosina Machu became the third Gonzaga women’s cross country runner to defender her West Coast Conference championship, leading the Zags to their first team title since 2015 at Micke Grove Golf Links in San Joaquin County, California.

“Gonzaga to Change League” was the headline plastered across the sports section of The Spokane Daily Chronicle the day the university decided to join the West Coast Athletic Conference.

“No matter what league Gonzaga was eventually going to move into they were going to be a flagship program,” Greenberg said. “They’re one of the programs that sets the standard as an elite basketball program. Obviously change is necessary in the current world of finances in college athletics. The Pac-12 does fit their footprint, but Gonzaga’s brand is a national brand.”

The date and tip time are set for the Gonzaga-USC charity exhibition game later this month in Palm Springs, California. The teams will meet at Acrisure Arena at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26
