Indians end with a bang

If Jake Skole and Nicholas McBride have anything to say about it, the second half of the Northwest League season could be even more productive for the playoff-bound Spokane Indians. Spokane has had its share of steady offensive play and solid starting pitching during the first half, and now Skole and McBride are showing they want to join the crowd.

Louisville pals help Indians

The coincidences keep piling up for two best friends from the University of Louisville. To start with, Josh Richmond and Andrew Clark were selected in back-to-back rounds during last month’s Major League Baseball first-year player draft. More unusual, both were taken by the same club, the Texas Rangers. Texas then shipped both 2,050 miles away to Spokane, a city that neither knew existed.

Indians finish sweep

Tim Hulett can’t recall another five-game sweep during his four seasons of managing the Spokane Indians. He certainly won’t see many sweeps similar to the one the Indians polished off Saturday at Avista Stadium.

Murphy boosts Indians into first place

No matter what Clark he calls upon to play first base, Spokane Indians manager Tim Hulett knows good things will happen. He’s Sorce of problems for Indians

Chris Sorce’s conversion from closer to starting pitcher looks like sheer inspiration. Sorce (1-0) worked six strong innings Saturday night as the Everett AquaSox (8-1) continued their steady march through the Northwest League with a 6-2 win over the Spokane Indians to open a five-game series.

Olt shines at plate, in field

Mike Olt walked into the Spokane Indians’ clubhouse Sunday and saw from the lineup card that he would be batting fifth in his professional debut. That suited Olt just fine, as his move to the No. 5 slot for the University of Connecticut this spring coincided with the Huskies putting together a 22-game winning streak.
