The NHL trade deadline spurred multiple deals by a number of teams.

Leading the way were the Toronto Maple Leafs, who made three trades Thursday and completed two more swaps Friday, adding defenseman Grant Jennings from Pittsburgh and forward Tie Domi from Winnipeg.

In exchange for Jennings, Toronto sent defenseman Drake Berehowsky to Pittsburgh. To get Domi, the Leafs shipped center Mike Eastwood and a third-round choice in the 1995 entry draft to the Jets.

Earlier, Toronto dealt goaltending prospect Eric Fichaud to the New York Islanders for forward Benoit Hogue and two draft choices, acquired center Paul DiPietro from Montreal for a fourth-round draft pick and sent left wing Nikolai Borschevsky to Calgary for a 1996 sixth-round choice.

Philadelphia also picked up defenseman Norm MacIver and center Troy Murray from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for center Martin Straka and the Senators obtained defenseman Daniel Laperriere from St. Louis for a conditional selection in the 1995 entry draft.

The New York Rangers also completed a pair of trades, sending minor-league goaltender Corey Hirsch to Vancouver for center Nathan LaFayette and swapping forward Ed Olczyk to Winnipeg for a 1995 fifth-round draft choice.

Buffalo and Philadelphia swapped defensemen, with Petr Svoboda moving to the Flyers and Garry Galley going to the Sabres.

The Sabres also sent defenseman Ken Sutton to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for left wing Scott Pearson.

Vancouver sent veteran defenseman Gerald Diduck to the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for minor-league prospect Bodgan Savenko and a third-round draft pick. The Canucks also acquired right winger Roman Oksiuta from Edmonton, sending defenseman Jiri Slegr to the Oilers.

San Jose traded veteran left wing Gaetan Duchesne to the Florida Panthers for a sixth-round choice in this year’s entry draft.

Washington obtained defenseman Igor Ulanov and center Mike Eagles from Winnipeg for third- and fifth-round picks in the 1995 entry draft. The Caps also traded goalie Rick Tabaracci to Calgary for a fifth-round pick in either 1995 or 1996.

Dallas also made two deals, including a trade of unhappy right wing Russ Courtnall to the Vancouver Canucks for two players and a draft choice. The Stars also dealt right wing Alan May to the Calgary Flames for an undisclosed 1995 draft choice.

In exchange for Courtnall, the Stars obtained left wing Greg Adams and right wing Dan Kesa.
