Bure’s Burden: He Isn’t Scoring

Pavel Bure can’t figure it out - he’s not scoring goals.

Bure, who signed a $22.5 million contract in the off-season, has not scored in four games. The NHL’s top goal scorer a year ago is stalled at 16 goals.

Bure has 35 points in 37 games, missing four games because of injury or illness.

The 24-year-old Russian is one of only eight players to twice score 60 goals or more in a season.

One of those years

The night Pat LaFontaine made his ‘94-95 debut, the Sabres lost AllStar goaltender Dominik Hasek for three games with a rotator cuff injury. It has been that kind of season for Buffalo, who have been hit harder by injuries in this short season than any other team.

Through last weekend seven players had missed at least 10 games.
