West Valley Closes Lead On Main Rival

In the Frontier League’s battle of the Valley, West Valley defeated East Valley 16-10 Wednesday at East Valley to move within a game of the first-place Knights.

WV (6-3) jumped out to a 5-1 lead early before the Knights (7-2) came back to tie the score at 5-5.

A seven-run West Valley fourth inning, highlighted by Joe Andrews’ two-run home run, helped give the Eagles (6-3) the breathing room they need.

East Valley falls to 7-2.

In Fl play at East Valley, Colville defeated Clarskton 11-10.

The Indians (4-5) got the game-winning run when Andy Hardison drove in Eric Weatherman in the bottom of the seventh inning. Clarkston is 1-8.

In GSL baseball, Central Valley defeated Gonzaga Prep 7-4 at Seafirst Stadium. G-Prep and CV are each 4-4 in league play.

Softball

At East Valley, the East Valley Knights beat Clarkston 10-8.

Trailing the entire game, the Knights (3-0) scored seven of their 10 runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure the win against the Bantams (0-3).

In GSL action, Central Valley beat Gonzaga Prep 5-1 at Central Valley.

Soccer

League-leading Mead defeated Central Valley 2-1, the winning goal coming off CV goalkeeper Derrick Adams’ arm after a ball kicked by Andy Smid ricocheted off the crossbar with 15 seconds remaining in regulation at Mead Junior High.

In other games, University beat Shadle Park 2-0, Gonzaga Prep beat Ferris 1-0 and North Central beat Rogers 4-0.

At the Complex, University scored a goal in each half and used tight defense to prevail. At Ferris, the Bullpups’ score at the 60-minute mark was the only goal of the game. At North Central, the Indians dominated from start to finish for the win.

At Clarkston, Pullman defeated Clarkston 8-0 on the strength of Travis Lumpkin’s hat trick and two goals scored by Greg Petry.
