Moos On Loose In Oregon As Athletic Director Finalist

Associated Press

Bill Moos, a finalist for the athletic director’s job at Oregon, played football in what is now the Pac-10 Conference as a 240-pound tackle for Washington State.

“Couldn’t do that now,” said Moos, 44, athletic director at Montana.

“There just aren’t many 240-pound offensive tackles in the game anymore,” said Moos, an allPac-8 Conference player in 1972 who played against such former Oregon greats as Ahmad Rashad and Dan Fouts.

Moos visited with Oregon officials and toured the campus Wednesday.

He is the second of the four finalists to come to Eugene as Oregon searches for a successor to interim athletic director Dan Williams, the school’s vice president for administration.

Eve Atkinson, athletic director at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., visited Oregon last week.

Next week, Fresno State athletic director Gary Cunningham is scheduled to visit Eugene. Herman Frazier, an associate athletic director at Arizona State, is expected to visit Oregon in early May.

The Ducks have not had a fulltime athletic director since Bill Byrne left in September 1992.
