Inmates File Suit Over Denial Of Snack

Associated Press

Three men convicted of felonies are suing Cassia County and the Mini-Cassia Jail for $10.7 million.

They say it was cruel and unusual punishment when they couldn’t get a late-night snack at the jail and jailers would allow them to spend only one hour a day in the law library.

Scott Lee Mickelson, Brian Tyke Moore and Francisco Garza Cruz all were briefly held in the Burley jail as prisoners from Bonneville County. The prisoners charge in their federal lawsuit that family members and attorneys faced the burden of traveling 200 miles for visits while the three were held in Burley.
