Bandwagon Finds Home In Flyerland

General manager Bob Clarke isn’t keen on the publicity his team is generating.

“I think everybody’s gotten carried away with this team,” Clarke said Thursday, referring to the Philadelphia Flyers’ climb to the top of the Atlantic Division. “We haven’t won anything.”

Not only are the Flyers in the playoffs, their play has made them one of the favorites. That’s not a role captain Eric Lindros, the league’s leading scorer, relishes.

“I’d prefer to be the underdogs,” said Lindros, who also would just as soon see the hype disappear.<
