Fire Crews Move To Take Advantage Of Cooler Weather

Associated Press

More than 200 firefighters fanned out across rugged terrain on the northwestern flank of a 900-acre high-country wildfire in southwestern Idaho on Tuesday as land managers moved to capitalize on higher humidity and cooler temperatures.

The Lake Fire several miles north of the Trinity Lakes recreation area some 40 miles east of Boise was 15 percent contained. But while the southwestern flank of the fire was beginning to cool, flames continued to move through bug-killed sub-alpine timber on the north edge.

The fire conditions were favorable for reining in more through today.

“The fire is not expected to grow any tomorrow. We have had favorable conditions which have helped in suppression,” forest spokeswoman Nancy Wright said. No containment time was announced.
