Heat Grips Midwest And Southwest

Temperatures in the upper 90s killed two more people in the Chicago area, bringing to 570 the number of people who have died from the heat this summer.

A 37-year-old man and an elderly man whose age was not disclosed were found dead Saturday.

The high Saturday and Sunday was 98.

The heat gripped much of the Midwest and Southwest over the weekend.

On Sunday, temperatures in the upper 90s combined with high humidity to make heat indexes as high as 119 in St. Louis, Greenville, Miss., and Jacksonville, N.C.
