Seattle’s Top Back Faces Assault Charge After Nightclub Incident

Associated Press

Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Warren was charged Wednesday with assaulting a woman outside of a nightclub.

A 27-year-old Seattle woman has accused Warren of slapping her in the parking lot of Castle Rock Club on July 29 after she had refused to dance with him.

“I actually said no and he took it the wrong way,” Kadra Muhummad told KING-TV.

“If he was touching me, maybe I could understand. He was not touching me, he slapped my butt,” she said.

Warren denies any inappropriate physical contact with the woman, said his lawyer, John Wolfe.

Wolfe said the woman’s claim is another false accusation against Warren. He was referring to Warren’s arrest after a Dec. 1 car accident that left Seahawk Mike Frier paralyzed. Police later learned that Seahawk Lamar Smith was the driver and charged him with vehicular assault.

Muhummad said Warren twisted her arm, called her names and then said “if you knew who I am, you wouldn’t be talking like this.” Before Warren left, the woman said he threatened to kick her if he ever saw her again.

City attorneys filed a misdemeanor fourth-degree assault charge in Renton Municipal Court.

If convicted, Warren faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $5,000 fine.
