Hawaii Takes Legion Title

Compiled From Wire Services

Jason Adaro had eight strikeouts in a four-hitter, leading Aiea, Hawaii, to a 2-0 victory over Bellevue, Wash., in the championship game of the American Legion World Series.

Aiea is the first Hawaiian team to win the World Series since Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Sid Fernandez led a Honolulu team to the 1980 title.

Adaro, the American Legion player of the year, did not allow a run in the series to extend his string of scoreless innings to 24-1/3.
