Accused Teen Worried About Job Interview
Aleatha Mae Kirkpatrick of Boise laughed as she appeared in court on a felony grand theft charge related to the Nov. 20 slaying of Travis John McIntier.
“You guys spelled my name wrong on the warrant,” the 18-year-old Kirkpatrick told Ada County Magistrate Tim Hansen on Wednesday.
Even after Hansen set her bond, Kirkpatrick still hoped she could make it to a job interview Saturday.
Investigators say she was one of three people who stole McIntier’s car after he was beaten, stuffed in the trunk and later thrown off a 100-foot cliff at Lucky Peak Reservoir. McIntier, 20, who had moved to Boise about three months before, reportedly begged for his life as he fell.
Kirkpatrick said she knew all about that.
Police say she has been cooperative in the case against three of her friends - Richard Allen Dunn, 25; Shawn Thomas Norris, 21; and John Joseph Maynard, 18 - who are charged with first-degree murder for allegedly beating McIntier and throwing him off the cliff.
Hansen set Kirkpatrick’s bond at $25,000.
“I can’t post it!” she shouted.
“I have an interview and training this Saturday at a telemarketing place. … Judge, since I start this job this Saturday, would I be able to be put on probation or anything?”
“This is not juvenile court,” Hansen replied.
