Doctor Can’t Testify In Sex Abuse Case

From Staff And Wire Reports

The judge in the child sex abuse trial of a Pentecostal preacher and his wife refused to allow a doctor to testify for the defense Friday, saying the man was “a learned armchair quarterback” but not a qualified medical expert.

But Douglas County Superior Court Judge T.W. “Chip” Small ruled that the defense could ask Wenatchee police detective Bob Perez about his interviews with the alleged victims.

Perez, the chief investigator for the Chelan County child sex ring cases, has been accused of pressuring children to accuse adults of abuse.

The rulings came on the eighth day of testimony in the trials of unordained pastor Robert “Roby” Roberson and his wife, Connie.

Roberson is charged with four counts of first-degree child rape, four counts of first-degree child molestation and one count of third-degree child molestation.
