Students Arrested In Drug Sting At Schools

Seventy-three students and 15 other people were arrested Friday after an undercover drug investigation at area high schools.

The drugs involved include crack, LSD and so-called designer drugs like Ecstasy, Sheriff’s Capt. J.L. Brown said. Charges ranged from drug possession to intent to sell. Most students were released into their parents’ custody.

Officers and criminal justice college students were enrolled as seniors at 12 high schools in the fall after principals complained about increased drug activity on campus.

The investigation has led to more than 300 indictments, authorities said.
