Pleas Entered In Shooting Death
Two men have pleaded innocent in the shooting death of a Jeep driver, a killing that Pierce County prosecutors said was the result of a reported drug theft.
Bails was set Friday at $500,000 for Jemaine Deon Pettus and $300,000 for James Edward Henderson. They are charged with first-degree murder in the death of Don Maurice Cady.
Deputy prosecutor Mike Johnson said the pair shot Cady because they believed he failed to pay for drugs he had taken from an addict whom they had hired to sell for them in the Hilltop area.
Cady was shot by a man in another car that pulled alongside his blue Jeep as he was driving on Nov. 24. Cady continued driving toward St. Joseph Medical Center until the Jeep ran off the road. He died at the hospital soon afterward.
