Boaters Warned Of Debris On Lake
High water levels and storm debris had Kootenai County officials warning boaters Thursday to be careful on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
The lake is currently 3-1/2 feet above flooding level, said Sandy Von Behren of Kootenai County Disaster Services. That means the water is seven to eight feet above what folks are used to at this time of year.
“There is also an excessive amount of debris out there on the lake,” she said.
A windstorm whipped through the Inland Northwest early Monday morning. It uprooted trees and caused widespread damage to boats and docks on Lake Coeur d’Alene.
It also scattered debris throughout the area’s waterways.
“Use extreme caution when boating right now,” Von Behren warned.
Disaster Services officials also urged people to carefully check out their boats, docks and waterfront property to see if any damage was done during the storm.
Von Behren said the water levels on Lake Coeur d’Alene have been going down daily. , DataTimes
