Fowlkes Suspension Reduced

Compiled From Wire Services

The NCAA has reduced the suspension of California forward Tremaine Fowlkes to 14 games, the university said.

The NCAA had suspended Fowlkes for the season for allegedly accepting money from a former agent to buy a car.

The NCAA Appeals Committee reduced the suspension of Fowlkes, who is allowed to practice with the team. He will be eligible to play Jan. 25 at Washington State.

Fowlkes, the 1995 Pac-10 freshman of the year, averaged 13.4 points per game and 6.7 rebounds last season.

Duke guard Trajan Langdon, a former Spokane Indians baseball player, will take a medical redshirt for the 1995-96 season, coach Mike Krzyzewski said.

Langdon, a sophomore, is suffering a stress reaction in his left leg above the knee. The injury occurred after Langdon severely sprained his ankle during the Junior World Championships last summer.
