Public Invited To Tour New City Hall

From Staff And Wire Reports

The city will show off its new $1.6 million City Hall today with an open house and tours for the public.

The building on Lake Street, formerly offices and warehouse space for a mail order catalog company, were remodeled the last few months to house city workers and the police and fire departments.

The city had outgrown its old offices downtown.

The warehouse was purchased and remodeled without raising taxes. It includes a bay for eight fire trucks, a handicapped-accessible City Council chambers and room for the police department to expand.

“We project this new City Hall will take care of the city’s needs for the next 50 years,” said Mayor Ron Chaney.

The public can tour the new building today from 1 to 6 p.m. , DataTimes
