Snow Sport Report

Compiled By Conrad Jungmann

ALPINE SKIING

Cold weather and fresh snow has arrived, allowing some area resorts to finally open for the season. Early-season conditions require rock skis.

Silver Mountain opened two lifts Wednesday with a 22-inch base. Lift tickets are discounted. Info: (800) 204-6428.

Lookout Pass will be open today with early-season conditions on 50-percent open terrain.

Schweitzer, 49 Degrees North and Ski Bluewood have minimal base coverage now, but anticipate opening next weekend.

Demo Days sponsored by Mountain Gear at 49 Degrees North has been rescheduled for December 17.

Sun Valley will open one lift Saturday with a 29-inch base.

NORDIC SKIING

With only 2 inches of snow on Mount Spokane, the Inland Empire Nordic Club was forced to cancel this weekend’s Wild Moose Cup. Info: 238-4025.

A foot of new snow in the Methow Valley has allowed the Sun Mountain, Mazama and Rendevous trails to be packed and groomed. Info: (800) 682-5787.

SNOWMOBILING

There’s not enough snow in the Methow Valley to start grooming, but the North Cross State Highway Pass has plenty of snow for early-season sledders. Also, the Coconully area from Kerr Camp Snopark reports good conditions.
