U-Hi Wins As Meyers Hits 35.75
Kim Meyers and her University gymnastics team show no signs of letting up.
Meyers won every event and the three-time defending champion Titans cruised to a win Thursday in a Greater Spokane League-opening three-way meet at Mead.
Meyers scored 35.75 points, just a shade less than what she totaled in winning last year’s District 8-AAA all-around.
“She looked better starting this season than she did finishing last season,” said coach Stacey Heaton, whose Titans have won 42 consecutive GSL head-to-heads.
Individual scores for Meyers included a 9.1 on the balance beam and 9.2 in the floor exercise.
U-Hi’s Kalie Cossette, competing with an injured foot, was second in the all-around at 32.6, helping the Titans to 159.9 points. Behind Cossette were Lindsay Linerud (32.35) of Central Valley and Kelly Herron (31.9) of Mead.
Herron’s Panthers edged CV 151.65-149.4 for second place. Lewis and Clark (123.95) trailed.
At Ferris, Liz Miller (34.0) swept all four events and won the all-around to lead the host Saxons over North Central (145.7), Rogers (135.65) and Shadle Park (119.2).
Ferris had the top four in the all-around, including runner-up Kacey Fredrickson.
